Faculty-Student Scholarship Program

Student Application Information
During academic year 2003-2004, scholarships for one graduate and up to nine undergraduate students will be awarded for $3,000 each, thanks to the generous endowment created by the dissolution of the Auxiliary Campus Enterprises Corporation.  This unique scholarship is awarded to qualified students who demonstrate through their academic and service record broad intellectual, artistic, and social interests.  Students will be required to serve for 10 hours weekly during the academic year in a campus internship that involves community service contribution.  This scholarship is awarded for one academic year only and is based on funds and internship availability.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Full-time students enrolled at BU both in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004.

  • Juniors, seniors, or a graduate student throughout 2003-2004.  Graduate status must commence in the Fall 2003 semester.

  • Students with superior academic records.

  • Students who demonstrate a commitment to community service, through past involvement in either   campus or community service groups (Examples: student organizations, Residential Life, University governance, involvement in local community and University social, cultural, and political service groups.)

How does one apply?
Submit an application no later than Friday, March 7, 2003 (5pm) to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Employment, SW 109.  The application requires:

  • Two (2) letter of recommendation from full-time Binghamton faculty of staff in support of the applicant's academic accomplishments and service activities outside the classroom;

  • An academic transcript (does not need to be official);

  • A resume which includes a list of all awards, activities, and work experience at Binghamton University;

  • A personal statement including the personal and/or professional goals of the applicant, and specific skills of the applicant that could be utilized in an internship;

  • A listing of the intership(s), in rank order, that the applicant is interested in (or indicate your desire to be matched up with an internship by the committee).
