| Barnes & Noble Scholarship: SOE |
Created in 2007, these funds were donated by Barnes & Noble Booksellers to help students finance higher education. |
Selection is made by the School of Education. No application is required. |
| Chandler Y. Keller Scholarship Fund |
Established in 1997 by Mrs. Shirley W. Keller in memory of her husband, a local lawyer, community leader, and lover of history. This scholarship is awarded to a student in good academic standing, with demonstrated financial need, who is pursuing a degree in social studies education with history as a major. |
Student must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the BU Financial Aid Services Office. Review and selection is done by the Social Studies Coordinator in the School of Education. No formal application required. Approximate selection date is April 15 for the following academic year. |
| David L. Kushner '70 Endowed Scholarship |
Established in 1996 by David L. Kushner '70, who began his career as a teacher in the local community and then moved into positions of employment related to non-profit management. This scholarship is awarded to a full or part-time School of Education master's student with demonstrated leadership potential through course work, field work, past or current employment, or volunteer activity, and with demonstrated financial need. |
Student must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the BU Financial Aid Services Office. Student must make a formal application by April 15. The application is available on the School of Education website, which can be linked to through the Binghamton University homepage. The review and selection of the recipient is done by faculty in the School of Education. Recipients will be chosen in the spring for the following academic year. |
| Dolores A.Granito Scholarship |
Established in 1987 in honor of Professor Emerita Dolores A. Granito, a retired School of Education faculty member in mathematics education. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time female graduate student pursuing a degree in mathematics education. |
Student must make a formal application by April 15. The application is available on the School of Education website, which can be linked to through the Binghamton University homepage. The review and selection of the recipient is done by faculty in Education and Mathematics. Recipients will be chosen in the spring for the following academic year. |
| Fred L. Kennedy '50 Scholarship in Social Studies |
Established in 1997 by Fred L. Kennedy '50, a local social studies teacher. This scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Social Studies program who demonstrates potential to become an excellent teacher, and who plans to teach social studies in grades 9-12 in a public high school. Preference is given to residents of Broome or Tioga Counties. |

| Geraldine S. Weil Memorial Fellowship Scholarship |
This fellowship is given to a full-time student in the Master of Science in Education in Reading/Language Arts program who plans to teach reading in the elementary schools. |

| Horace & Jane Hill Scholarship |
Established in 1995 by former Dean Linda B. Biemer in honor of the 60th Anniversary of her parents. This merit-based scholarship is awarded to a student with demonstrated financial need who is pursuing an M.A.T. in Social Studies. Dean Biemer began her career as a social studies teacher. |

| Marie R. Garcia Fellowship Award |
Established in 2006 by Dennis C. Garcia to benefit matriculated graduate students in the School of Education. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated financial need, proven merit, and who are New York State residents. |
Student must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the BU Financial Aid Office. No other formal application or inquiry required. Selection is made by the School of Education and is awarded during the spring/summer for the following academic year. |
| School of Education Scholarship Fund |
This scholarship is awarded to matriculated SOE students, with demonstrated financial need, who have demonstrated the correlation between the SOE mission and their own lives. |
