Verification Questions

After you submit your FAFSA to apply for financial aid, the Federal Processor will acknowledge receipt and processing of your application by sending you a Student Aid Report (SAR).

The SAR will be delivered either electronically or in paper form, based on how you applied. Your SAR outlines all of the information the Federal Processor received from you and informs you of any problems or other information pertaining to your application. One thing your SAR may indicate is that you have been selected for a process known as "verification".

Verification requires you to send schools copies of tax returns and other documents to verify the information you reported on your FAFSA unless the school participates in the Federal Quality Assurance Program.

Binghamton University is EXEMPT from VERIFICATION!!

We participate in the Federal Quality Assurance Program. Therefore, do not send tax returns or other forms unless you are selected to participate in the Quality Assurance Program. If you are, you will receive a notice in June requesting the specific documentation that is needed.
